3 Top SEO Tips to Boost Your Website’s Visibility

SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is a vital aspect of digital marketing. It’s what makes your website visible to potential customers on search engines like Google. However, the realm of SEO can seem confusing, especially for beginners. To simplify, I interviewed SEO Strategist Lyndsay Bibb on the Unstoppable Marketing and Mindset Podcast to ask her for her top 3 tips.

Here’s what she shared:

1. Learn the Basics

Equip yourself with a basic understanding of SEO. This serves two crucial purposes. Firstly, it helps prevent you from falling prey to scams promising miracles like top Google rankings within ten days. Secondly, it provides a foundation of knowledge that can aid your collaboration with an SEO consultant.

If you have zero understanding of SEO, it can be difficult to appreciate why it’s an investment, both in terms of time and resources, and not a “set-and-forget” type of deal.

Some might question why you’d want to learn the basics if you can hire an expert. But I assure you, even after gaining fundamental SEO knowledge, you’ll still find immense value in working with a professional. They possess a deeper understanding that can help you maximize SEO benefits.

2. Invest in Keyword Research

Keyword research forms the foundation of your SEO strategy. It guides what your website ranks for on each page and product, and it can pinpoint the most beneficial keywords to pursue. For instance, if you’re a business coach in Perth, simply targeting the keyword “business” might not be your best bet. Although “business” may receive 30,000 searches a month, it won’t necessarily convert to clients.

In essence, if you’re reluctant to invest in an extensive SEO strategy at the outset, at least consider investing in keyword research. It will set you on the right path from the beginning, and then you can decide whether to implement it yourself or seek professional help.

3. Be Patient

Patience is key in the SEO game. SEO is a journey, not an overnight magic trick. It involves consistent tracking, testing, and checking. You have to implement changes, give them time to take effect, and assess the outcomes before making further adjustments.

The rule of thumb is to expect tangible benefits from any implementation after a minimum of three to six months. However, in my experience with our website, we started noticing improvements in around 10 to 12 weeks. But
remember, it generally takes a minimum of three months, and often up to six months, to get a solid grasp of your SEO status, and identify what needs to be improved, tweaked, or changed.

So, if you’re venturing into the world of SEO, equip yourself with these three tips: Understand the basics, invest in keyword research, and be patient. These will set you on the path to maximizing your online visibility and driving more traffic to your website. Remember, SEO is not a one-off task; it’s a continuous process. However, the rewards it yields in the form of increased visibility and traffic are well worth the effort.
